When a plant comes back.

Recycled aluminium puts the lining to a harder test than primary metal: salt slag and build-up attack the bricks chemically, and frequent changes of charge cause thermal shock. Against this background, we have been responsible for the refractory linings and overhauls of the melting and crucible furnaces at a secondary aluminium site in Upper Bavaria for several years.
Chemical attack from salt slag and build-up from the recycling process
Thermal shock caused by frequent changes of charge
Aluminium and salt infiltration with subsequent corundum formation
Meeting deadlines within tight shutdown windows
Material selection according to the load profile – non-wetting mixes in the bath and melting line to counter aluminium and salt infiltration
Controlled heat-up with defined holding stages to minimise stress cracking
In-house prefabrication at our Putzbrunn workshop to shorten the shutdown
Execution by our own installation teams without subcontractors
In addition: cold cleaning of the transport ladles

Lining and overhaul of the melting and crucible furnaces from a single source
