Chip melting furnace fully overhauled – functionality secured, service life extended
A company near Hallenberg commissioned SBS Refractory Service with the comprehensive overhaul of its chip melting furnace. After an extended period in service the furnace was showing signs of wear on the lining, the stirring mechanism was no longer working optimally and deposits were impairing melting performance.
The refractory lining showed wear at several points and required targeted repairs

The work was intended to extend the overall service life of the furnace sustainably
After arriving on site, our team first carried out a thorough cleaning of the furnace. All slag residues and deposits were removed so that the actual condition of the lining could be assessed.
The damaged areas of the lining were professionally repaired and full-surface maintenance gunning was applied to extend the service life sustainably. The stirring mechanism was inspected and optimised.
Once all work was complete, the furnace was handed over to the customer – with its functionality secured and efficiency significantly improved.
